Stevens' emergency department (ED) provides expert medical care to 44,000 patients annually for the treatment of everything from major emergency illnesses and injuries to minor health-related problems. As is true across the United States, our emergency department is often crowded and waits are longer that what you, and we, would like. A number of changes have been made in our ED recently with very good results. Some shining aspects of our ED—examples of our commitment to defining the bright future of Stevens Hospital—include:

  • Our waiting times are the lowest of any hospital in western Washington, and they are getting better every month.
  • "Excellent" patient opinion ratings of care at Stevens have increased fivefold in the past five months and continue to climb; a similar increase occurred in patient opinion ratings of our ED physicians.
