Interpreter Services
As a community hospital committed to all who seek healthcare, Stevens launched a toll-free telephone service in May of 2007 whereby patients may seek assistance in any language for their care at the hospital. When patients call the number they are connected to an interpreter who follows them through the hospital’s system until they get the help they need. Stevens Hospital is only the second hospital in the state, and the first public hospital, to install such a system.
This cutting-edge service is the result of a unique community-hospital partnership. Korean, Russian, and Spanish-speaking residents have come together with hospital management to address barriers to care often faced by patients from different language and cultural backgrounds.
