Foundation Board of Trustees

The Stevens Foundation Board of Trustees is comprised of representatives from a broad base of constituencies. Each person brings a unique perspective and skill set. These community members have dedicated their time, expertise, and resources to ensure that Stevens Hospital’s needs are met now and in the future. We are grateful and proud to be associated with the members who make up our board.

Jeffrey F. Bray, MD: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Sound Women’s Care

Jeff was born and raised in Edmonds. He graduated in 1987 from Edmonds High School. He received his bachelors in science in Zoology from the University of Washington and went on to earn his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. In 1997, he went on to the University of NM in Albuquerque for his obstetrics and gynecology residency. He met his wife Cyndie in the labor and delivery unit. He always held a passion to return to this community. In 2001, he joined Sound Women’s Care alongside Ronald Bray MD, his dad. Jeff is currently Chief of OB and sits on the Peer Review Board for Molina Health Care. His is closely involved in the activities of his two girls—Elly and Emma—especially skiing, the family’s favorite winter sport.

Michael C. Carter: Chief Executive Officer, Stevens Hospital

Michael C. Carter received his bachelor of arts in business administration from California State University Dominguez Hills and his master of arts from University of California Los Angeles. Mr. Carter is a healthcare executive with 30 years of progressive responsibility in hospital and health system leadership. He is a strategic-minded leader with an ability to effectively manage in all situations. Mr. Carter is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer at Stevens Hospital. He has served as chief executive officer at Anaheim Memorial Medical Center, vice president of professional and support services at Redlands Community Hospital, and has acted as an independent consultant specializing in hospitals experiencing a transition in leadership. Mr. Carter is affiliated with the American College of Healthcare Executives as a fellow and is a member of the UCLA Alumni Association.

Richard L. Canning: Vice President/ CFO, Stevens Hospital

Mr. Canning is a senior level healthcare professional leader with over twenty years of extensive experience in financial and operational management areas. He joined Stevens in March of 2008. He is responsible for all financial functions, information systems, HIM and managed care. Prior to joining Stevens, Mr. Canning led the development of a financial turnaround plan for Washington Hospital Healthcare System in Fremont, CA. Mr. Canning graduated Cum Laude in Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and Treasurer, Board of Directors or O’Conner Woods Senior Housing/Assisted Living.

Carol J. Cornejo, MD, FAC: General Surgery, Surgical Associates
of Edmonds

Carol J. Cornejo received her bachelor of science in psychobiology from the University of California Los Angeles. She attended medical school at UCLA, and performed her residency in General Surgery at the University of Washington. Carol has been practicing since 1998. She is board-certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the National Board of Medical Examiners. She is a member of the following organizations: Washington State Medical Associations, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, ACS Regional Committee on Trauma, King County Medical Society and the Surgical Infection Society.

Robert A. Fuller: Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC

Robert Fuller is a financial advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC. in Edmonds. A graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in advertising and psychology, Robert is married to Mele Lynn Fuller. He is a father of two sons: Patrick and Christopher. Previously, Mr. Fuller led one of the Air Force’s most successful recruiting squadrons. He directed an internal communications program for an 118,000 plus organization, including more than twenty community newspapers. Bob has been an active member of his community. He served as past-president of the Lynnwood Rotary, past-chair of the South Snohomish County Chamber of Commerce, and he is a past member of the Stevens Foundation Board of Trustees. Currently Mr. Fuller serves as a board member of the South Snohomish Chamber Public Facilities District charged with building and running a $32 million convention and exhibition center in Lynnwood.

Michelle Gill, M.D.: Medical Director, Stevens Hospital, Department of Emergency CEP

Michelle Gill received her Bachelor of Science, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Akron. She attended medical school at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, and performed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Maricopa Medical Center. Michelle has been teaching and practicing since 2000. She is a member of the following professional organizations: American College of Emergency Physicians, Society of Academic Emergency Medicine, and Physicians for Human Rights.

Dr Gill is the author of numerous clinical research articles. She is an avid volunteer. In her free time she enjoys running, traveling, snowboarding, and spending time with her husband Jeff and three children.

Gwendolyn Grim Johnson: Community Member

Gwendolyn Johnson is a Seattle native. She graduated from Whitman College, Walla Walla, Washington in 1972. After college she spent a year teaching English in Nagoya, Japan before beginning her retail career as a manager and buyer at Frederick and Nelson in Seattle. She has worked on numerous fundraising projects for Whitman College and the Junior League of Seattle and was an active volunteer at Lakeside School for 12 years, where she chaired the Rummage Sale, the Auction and finally, held the position of Parents Association President and was member of the Lakeside School Board of Trustees from 2004-2006. She has lived in Woodway with her husband, Steve, since 1987 and has three adult children.

Leonard Lutes: CEO, The Utility Company and Arsentia

Mr. Lutes has a degree in Business Administration from the College of the Canyon in Valencia, California. He is a resident of Edmonds, WA. Starting his career at Xerox Corporation he moved up the sales ranks to Vice President of Sales and Marketing with Permabilt Industries. In 1993 Mr. Lutes took his first position as President and CEO of First Choice Business Machines. In 1995 he relocated to Pittsburg, PA and become the President and CEO of Van Dyk Business Systems. January 1, 2008 Mr. Lutes relocated from Pittsburgh to focus on actively increasing the daily productivity of The Utility Company of Puget Sound as the CEO and the on site Manager. He also holds the position of CEO at Arscentia a Design firm in Bellevue, WA. Two of his grandchildren were born at Stevens. He and his wife are active community members and volunteers.

Ann Lutes: Community Member

Mrs. Lutes is a Washington native. Her father, Andy Kearse, was a Sergeant in the Washington State Highway Patrol, so the family moved around a lot. They finally settled in Lynnwood. Ann graduated from Mountlake Terrace High School. Mrs. Lutes has been a full time homemaker, raising a family of four; two of her children were born at Stevens. Mrs. Lutes worked at Edmonds Rehabilitation and Healthcare for several years before relocating to Pittsburgh. She is very active in her community, and particularly in her grandchildren’s lives. She and her husband live in Edmonds near three of their children and three grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, entertaining and spending time with her family.

James McCullough, MD: Edmonds Anesthesia Associates

Born and raised in Bremerton, Washington, Dr. McCullough earned a BA in Humanities and a BS in General Sciences from Seattle University. He received his MD from the University Of Washington School Of Medicine and completed a general surgery internship at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. McCullough completed his residency in anesthesiology at Oregon Health Sciences University. He has worked as an emergency physician for Costal Emergency Services and a Clinical Instructor of Anesthesiology at Oregon Health Sciences University. Dr. McCullough has been a member of Edmonds Anesthesia Associates at Stevens Hospital since 1997. James lives in Edmonds with his wife Molly and their four children. He is active in his community and enjoys downhill skiing, backpacking, astronomy, hang gliding, gardening and sailing.

Mary McCullough (Molly)

Born in Seattle, Washington, Mrs. McCullough earned her BA in Humanities from Seattle University. She has worked with the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Boyer Avenue Company, Seattle Parks and Recreation, and the YWCA in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is an active community volunteer most recently working with the Lakeside School Parents Association in the following roles: Committee Chair, Committee Representative, Nominations Committee, Executive Committee on Long Range Planning, 1st Vice President, and President. She has served as Assistant Treasurer to Bible Study Fellowship International and on the Lakeside School Board of Trustees for two years. Ms. McCullough lives in Edmonds with her husband James and their four children. Her hobbies include reading, cooking and dancing.

Mary McIntyre: Partner, McIntyre and Barns PLLC Attorneys at Law

Mary McIntyre is a registered nurse and a healthcare attorney with a long history of representing healthcare providers. Mary began her relationship with Stevens Hospital in 1985. She is excited about the opportunity to work with others to revitalize Stevens Hospital and strengthen the relationship between the hospital and its community. Mary graduated from Boise State University with degrees in sociology and nursing. After working as a nurse for several years, Mary attended the University of Idaho, receiving her law degree in 1983. She then moved to Washington and began her legal career. Mary is a partner in the healthcare law firm, McIntyre & Barns located in Seattle, Washington.

Julie Norman: Director of Nutrition and Food Services, Stevens Hospital

Ms. Norman was born and raised in the Seattle area and graduated from the University of Washington in 1982 with a B.S. in clinical dietetics. She worked as a consultant dietitian in skilled nursing facilities until accepting a full time position at Stevens in 1983. She worked as a clinical dietitian at Stevens in many areas, most recently oncology and diabetes education, until 2008 when she accepted her present position as Director of Nutrition and Food Service. Julie is currently serving as co-chair of the Stevens Hospital Employee Giving Committee, and is on the Executive Board of the Washington Chapter of the Association for Hospital Food Service. She has two grown sons and her hobbies are running, cooking and gardening.

Mark T. Nunes: Director of Facilities and Hospital Safety Officer, Stevens Hospital

A native of Massachusetts, Mark joined the Marine Corps in 1979 and after serving six years in the United States Marine Corps Special Forces began working for a Navy research lab on remotely operated submersible vehicles. In 1985 Mark transitioned into the medical field as Hyperbaric Technologist working for the University of Hawaii's Hyperbaric Treatment Center.

After moving to Washington in 1992, Mark migrated into EMS and the hospital environment working in hospital disaster preparedness, patient safety, Environment of Care, hospital safety officer and has coordinated numerous organizational committees and lead administrations in Environment of Care planning.

Mark has developed numerous programs on hospital preparedness dealing with weapons of mass destruction, incident response, and mitigation practices and lectured around the state and nationally. He has served on various state and county planning committee's including the State's Committee on Homeland Security, and has acted as an independent consultant to the Washington State Hospital Association for Disaster Readiness and Technical Expert specializing in hospital emergency planning.

Mark is a Washington State Emergency Medical Technician, Washington State Senior EMT Instructor, Safety Officer on the Washington Disaster Medical Assistance Team (WA-1), and serves as the Region One Healthcare Coalition Chair. He lives in Lynnwood with his wife Elizabeth and has three adult children and two Australian Shepards.

Timothy M. Roddy, MD: Chief Medical Officer/Vice President of Medical Affairs, Stevens Hospital, Sound Urological Associates

Dr. Timothy M. Roddy received his bachelor of science from University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University. Currently Dr. Roddy is President of the medical staff at Stevens Hospital. He is also active in private practice at Sound Urological Associates. Tim has been a member of the Stevens Active Medical Staff since 1989. Dr. Roddy and his wife Dena are active members of the local community.

Michelle J. Sinnett, MD: General Surgeon, Proliance Surgeons of Edmonds

Dr. Sinnett went to medical school at Baylor College of Medicine. Her internship was at University of Alabama at Birmingham, and she performed her residency at the University of Washington. Her special interests in medicine are minimally invasive surgery and managing disease of the breast, thyroid and abdomen. She is currently in practice with Surgical Associates of Edmonds.
