Community Involvement
As a public hospital district and the largest employer in Edmonds, Stevens Hospital is integrally linked with our community and welcomes the mantle of being its heart and soul. We are the Stevens family serving your family.
- Stevens Hospital takes seriously its mission to improve the health and well-being of the community through local, high-quality and compassionate health care services.
- Stevens case management department helps patients and family members with discharge planning and provides community resource information. In addition, social workers offer emotional support and resources, as well as assessment for mental health, substance abuse and other psychological and social needs.
- An important aspect to helping patients and families at Stevens Hospital is the companionship and assistance provided by Stevens Hospital volunteers. We are fortunate to have almost 400 volunteers donating their time, skills and compassion. Volunteering is open to all qualified people interested in assisting Stevens Hospital in fulfilling its mission.
- We proudly host annual events to educate and inform the community.
- We sponsor events in support of numerous civic, health care, community and educational organizations.
- We participate actively in community-building events such as the Edmonds Arts Festival, the Edmonds 4th of July Parade and the Tour de Terrace.
- As individuals, our administrators and staff are actively engaged in numerous community and civic organizations to strengthen the communities in which they live and work.
- We provide a wide range of classes and seminars for the public on health care topics of interest to the community and our patients.
- In support of the special needs of patients, families, and other community members, we provide an array of support groups as well as free bereavement support groups.
- Our Stevens Foundation hosts a number of events annually to inform the community about Stevens future plans and to encourage all to help build toward Stevens growth. Stevens Foundation is currently in a fundraising campaign to benefit our Birth Center and Level 2 Special Care Nursery.
- Stevens Hospital cares for those with limited funds who may not be able otherwise to access or afford medical care. In 2008, Stevens provided more than $6.5 million in charity care to our community members.
